Commercial vehicles are expected to be trailblazers for the advancement of automated driving. This has never been more evident than at this year’s International Motor Show in Hanover, Germany. If you attend the trade fair and are overwhelmed by the options – don’t worry! We have selected six IAA automated driving highlights for you.
Guided Tours: Automated Driving
What? You arrive at the IAA and don’t know where to start? The guided tours offer the opportunity to cut right to the chase. A two hours walking tour presents you selected highlights and innovations in the field of automated driving. It takes you directly to solutions for platooning, congestion, parking, rest areas, loading ramps and automated loading. Or as the IAA puts it: “You don’t have to spend a lot of time searching, you don’t have to wait, and you will immediately get to know the exhibitors’ relevant contact persons.” Tours are also held for the topics connected vehicle, alternative powertrain and urban logistics. Demonstration area “New Mobility World LIVE”
What? The perfect way to get some fresh air: This outdoor area with the size of a football field shows dynamic and interactive driving demonstrations of the latest trends in the commercial vehicle sector. Symposium: Digitalisation of Commercial Vehicles
What? With vehicles becoming increasingly digital, this offers tremendous opportunities for commercial applications – but also opens up new legal and technical challenges. Just think of the many unsolved issues regarding data privacy. In this, symposium top-class experts from Daimler, John Deere and the political and scientific realm address these issues and debate possible solutions. Find more information here.

New Mobility World Lab16 – Startups meet Industry
What? Innovative start-ups are taking the commercial vehicle sector by storm. At this event, international startups present their visions for mobility and logistics solution of the future. Participants include autonomous trucking company Otto, the cyber security experts of Argus and the Re2you software specialists. Additionally, at the hackathon “Hack.IAA”, students will work over a 24 hours period on ideas and IT solutions for the topics “smart logistics” and “user experience”. Forum - Networked and Automated Driving
What? It is the get-together of the big shots: High-ranking politicians, members of the automotive industry and scientists meet to discuss challenges and opportunities of automated and connected driving. Participants include representatives of the German Ministry of Transport, MAN, Bosch, Continental, ZF Friedrichshafen, HERE and McKinsey. The agenda includes speeches, keynotes and panel discussions.
