The International Automobile Federation (FIA) is not only Formula One, but also one of the most powerful representatives of car drivers across the globe. When the FIA speaks, lawmakers and industry leaders listen. So what is the FIA’s take on automated driving?

What’s the first thing you associate with the FIA? Most people will probably think of Formula 1. After all, the FIA is mostly known as the governing body for many car racing events. But what not everybody knows is that the FIA also represents mobility clubs around the world – and thus, 38 million drivers like you and me.

As a strong voice of car users, the FIA’s stance on automated driving is of great interest. We met Laurianne Krid, FIA Region I Director General, in Brussels to learn more. In our video interview, Krid explains why many people don’t fully trust automated cars yet, how public acceptance can be increased – and why the technology will change our lives.
