They will, but not in the next couple of years...

The technology will support the driver in his job. Lane departure warning systems, cruise control and much more systems had shown, that they can be very useful. The [Show more...]same will happen with automated driving systems. They will support the driver, they give more security and comfort. But the driver will stay the supervisor. At the beginning...
But the technology will come to a point, where the trucks can be drive by themself. Automated guided vehicles are a good example for this. Automated trains as well.
The development of our technology had increased exponentially in the last 100 years. Imagine, where we will be in the next 100 years...

Whatever path the freight industry / logistics sector and its ways of moving goods from A to B may take: these changes won't happen overnight - but the expected consequences for labor markets will continue to be up for discussion!
